Pricing without the shenanigans.
Too often in my personal and professional shopping, I see examples of product and service pricing that ranges from muddled and confusing to downright deceptive. From our inception, we vowed to offer our products at fair prices with as much transparency as possible. Here is some of what we see:
Marking up to deeply discount. Pretty common in many home goods - the starting price is often 15-30% higher than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. Chances are, if the salesperson is regularly and routinely offering 25, 30, 50% off - you’re probably not receiving the deal you believe you’re getting.
BOGO - Two for the price of two! For example, MSRP is $100, Last week it was routinely selling for $75.00 (Because to compete, few retailers sell at full MSRP) or two for $150.00. Today, For a limited time! If you act now! Yada yada yada! If you buy one at $100.00 your second is only $50.00. Or two… for… um… $150.00. If the products are different prices, where does the 50% come from? - the lowest priced item, of course. Too often, a BOGO is bogus.
Shipping. For us, shipping is treated as a Net, pass-through amount. We don’t and won’t mark-up shipping.
Credit card processing. We don’t pass on our credit card processing fees. Credit Card payments are a convenience for us and a preference for many of our customers and just one of the costs of doing business. Checks are always welcome.
Undisclosed fees and charges and the “discounts” applied. Waiving and discounting installation and other “service fees” seem generous - but did you know what they were to begin with? Our installation fees are clearly stated at the time of quotation and will be added to the website to enhance our transparency.
A mile long list of discounts. If your job, age, eye color, the position of the stars or 37 other things can earn you a discount, the price should just be lower.
So, Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware. Not every deal is what it seems.
Our promise to you is to offer a fair price, for everyone, everyday.
